LIFE AT LINDAU

Residents are the focal point of our services and we pride ourselves on delivering the highest quality care and support while respecting them as individuals and giving them the dignity they deserve. We endeavour to make our residents feel at home with us, however long or short their stay.
At Lindau residents can enjoy a wide variety of entertainments and activities. Indoors there are arts and crafts, playing cards, bingo, board games and flower arranging. Outside, when weather permitting we play lawn darts and hoop-la. Entertainers visiting the home include signers and an outside theatre company.
We encourage family and friends to visit residents as regularly as they can.
Mealtimes are an important part of our residents’ day and we recognise the importance of good nutritious food. Whether breakfast, lunch or tea, there is always a variety of choice and all our menus are assessed for nutritional value. Residents can either choose to eat within their rooms or join others in our dining room. Relatives are always welcome to come along. Our weekly menu is displayed on various display boards throughout the home.
Our catering partner Apetito (http://www.apetito.co.uk/) is a well established provider of nutritious healthy meals to the care sector and their menu currently features over 200 delicious meals and desserts that our residents can enjoy. Their range of meals include special dietary and texture modified meals as well as catering for religious and ethnic/cultural requirements including Halal, Kosher, African-Caribbean and Asian vegetarian.
Texture modified meals are available in 4 categories to suit residents with differing levels of chewing and/or swallowing difficulty. These can vary from puréed foods to fork-mashable meals. New residents are assessed for malnutrition and other deficiency related conditions and if any are found we will immediately start providing meals that are suited to the resident’s needs to get them back to health quickly and safely.
SETTLING IN

We strive to create a friendly, caring environment and understand the balance between providing care when needed and helping our residents to maintain their independence where possible.
Our residents and their families are important to us. Individual likes and dislikes are established, ensuring we are fully aware of habits and feelings. A tailor made personal care plan is then created and from this a specialised staff member is matched with them to build a 1:1 relationship which makes their experiences more consistent.
Referrals come from a number of sources including social services, local hospitalss and private individuals/relatives. We conduct a detailed confidential assessment prior to admission and put in place a transition plan to ensure the move into the home is as comfortable and free of stress as it can be. Wherever possible the potential resident will dictate the pace of their admission. We use the information from the assessment to determine a consistent approach to the care given to the new resident, always with their full consent.

At Lindau, we offer residents excellent facilities to make their lives comfortable, enjoyable and as safe as possible.
